What is HOLMES?
HOLMES (Home Office Large Major Enquiry System) is the system on which our Major Crime investigators keep their records.
The Major Crime Team are looking for a HOLMES Indexer to support the investigation of serious and complex crime within Hampshire by effective use
of
HOLMES in the Major Incident Room (MIR) and Casualty Bureau (CB).
You will be working both individually and as part of a team researching and maintaining database records and documentation
in order to provide accurate information, intelligence and evidence
preparation.

What we require from you
You must be prepared to undertake relevant training courses as necessary in order to fulfil the requirements of the role. This includes a national HOLMES indexer course which is 4 weeks in length
and may be out of Force, hotel
and hire car will be provided.
You must be prepared to undertake a driving assessment and eye test in order to utilise force vehicles.
You will be part of a weekend and Bank Holiday "on call" Indexer rota, approximately 1 in 12 weekends, for homicides and other serious crime that requires HOLMES support. This is paid at a standby allowance.
You may be required to visit other locations within Hampshire and the Isle of Wight at short notice, and therefore needs to have the ability to travel as necessary, ideally a reliable vehicle.
If successful you must be prepared to undergo the provisions of 'vetting' to a MV level.
About the role
This is a varied and exciting role which includes assisting officers with file preparation for court and attending incident briefings/conferences. You will also be working within a Casualty Bureau in the event of a critical incident
You will ensure HOLMES is set up appropriately for each incident, updating the Indexers Policy during investigations, registering all documentation on HOLMES as directed by the receiver. You will also research and Index data in order to identify areas for investigation, accurately assess and summarise relevant facts from large amounts of information and assist the Serious Crime Review team with regards to historical case reviews
