At Mt Somers Springburn School, we believe every child deserves to feel valued, connected and fully supported to thrive. We are seeking a compassionate, skilled and relationship-focused specialist teacher to work alongside one of our learners with high and complex needs in a 0.2 FTTE role.

The role
The successful applicant will:
* Design and implement personalised learning programmes tailored to the student’s strengths, needs and goals
* Develop and lead Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in partnership with whānau, school staff and trusted outside agencies
* Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff and specialists to ensure consistent and inclusive support
* Support the student to access learning, school environments and daily routines successfully
* Provide guidance and mentoring to teacher aides and support staff involved in the programme
* Build trusting, respectful relationships with whānau, recognising families as experts on their child
* Work alongside external agencies and specialists to support learning, mobility and wellbeing programmes
* Maintain appropriate documentation, communication and reporting related to the programme
We are looking for someone who:
* Has experience or is keen in supporting children with diverse and complex learning needs
* Values inclusive education and child-centred practice
* Can build strong partnerships with whānau and outside agencies
* Is calm, adaptable and highly relational
* Has excellent communication and organisational skillsUnderstands the importance of dignity, care and mana for all learners
* Holds current teacher registration (or is eligible to hold registration in New Zealand)
