Senior Therapy Assistant – Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

The Senior Therapy Assistant will support Occupational Therapists in delivering person‑centred interventions within the Occupational Therapy Rehabilitation and Relapse Prevention team. This part‑time role (22.5 hours per week) involves working both in the PARALEL team office and within local community settings.
Main Duties
* Support the Occupational Therapist in delivering person‑centred interventions, including psycho‑education, cooking, shopping, social eating and relaxation sessions, delivered in groups and one‑to‑one, face‑to‑face or virtually.
* Plan, prepare and adapt interventions to meet service‑user preferences while maintaining timely and accurate clinical documentation.
* Engage service users in therapeutic activities and facilitate a client‑focused approach.
* Work collaboratively with a small multidisciplinary team to ensure a seamless and supportive care experience.
* Drive to and from community settings – driving is essential.
* Manage a defined group of patients discharged from the Oaktrees Specialist Eating Disorder Service, implementing interventions, assessing progression and evaluating outcomes.
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a health‑related subject.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* Willingness to complete an Assistant Practitioner Foundation Degree (or be eligible to complete within 6 months).
* European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) or equivalent.
Knowledge and Expertise
* Knowledge of eating disorders and therapeutic interventions (e.g., anxiety management, life skills, meal support, relapse prevention, exposure therapy).
* Knowledge of various health conditions and the rehabilitation process.
* Understanding of risk assessment for assistive equipment and minor adaptations.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Adherence to professional standards (e.g., Occupational Therapy / Physiotherapy code of ethics).
* Proficiency in IT skills and ability to work independently and manage caseloads.
Experience
* Significant experience as a Band 3 Therapy Assistant or CSW.
* Experience in a relevant community setting.
* Current experience working in a health/social care setting.
* Proven ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Previous experience as a Band 4 Therapy Assistant.
Contract Details
* Salary: £28,392 to £31,157 per annum (pro‑rated).
* Fixed‑term contract – 19 months.
* Part‑time – 22.5 hours per week; 3 days per week, variable hours within Monday to Friday daytime service.
