Alliance Vetting Researcher
Location 2 x Middlemoor
Umbrella Rate: £17.80 per hour
Job Title: Alliance Vetting Researcher
Division/Department: Professional Standards Department / Vetting Unit
Line Manager: Force Vetting Officer

Purpose of the Role As an Alliance Vetting Researcher, you will analyse and evaluate Force, National, and bespoke Police databases. Your work will support vetting decisions made by the Vetting Researcher, Force Vetting Officer, Manager, and Head of Professional Standards, in accordance with the Authorised Professional Practice (APP) for Vetting, Police Code of Ethics, and Vetting Code of Practice.

Main Responsibilities
Apply the Vetting Code of Practice, APP for Vetting, and Police Code of Ethics to vetting applicants and associates.

Conduct low-level financial interviews with new applicants to verify disclosures on vetting forms.

Make vetting decision recommendations and some low-level vetting decisions.

Provide advice on vetting procedures while maintaining confidentiality and complying with data protection legislation.

Manage vetting project work and data, including vetting renewals, reciprocal vetting across forces, and TUPE transfers.

Manage recruitment campaigns linked to vetting, ensuring deadlines are met.

Undertake intelligence research using various police systems (PNC, PND, NICHE/Unifi, Centurion, Pentip, UKSV, Agresso, Experian, Social Networks).

Liaise with external agencies, including National Crime Agency and Ministry of Defence, to verify applicant information.

Maintain accurate vetting records in line with organisational policy and legislation.

Provide administrative support to the Professional Standards Department.

Internal SPOCs for Non-Police PersonnelPerson Specification Essential:

Proven research, information gathering, and analytical skills for evaluation and decision making.

Proficiency with IT systems, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to interview and present findings.

Self-motivated with ability to work unsupervised, prioritise workloads, and meet deadlines.

Meticulous, systematic, and flexible approach to work.

Clear understanding of Data Protection Act and Vetting Code of Practice; ability to handle sensitive information discreetly.

Desirable:

Experience with police systems such as PNC, PND, NICHE, and other force-wide platforms.
