Cronite Castings in Crewkerne has been a successful foundry business for over 100 years. We are currently recruiting for a sand foundry operative to support our sand moulding production.
We are looking for a Foundry Operative to prepare moulds ready for pouring, this will include following detailed operation cards and ensure the interminable and efficient running of production.
You will be reliable and able to work with attention to detail, comply with and follow safety standards. You will be a self-motivated team player. You will have the skills to successfully work with their assigned patterns to keep production on schedule. Effective foundry operatives can think on their feet, make quick decisions and have strong attention to detail to ensure equipment issues are reported and resolved. This is a full-time role requiring commitment and extensive training over a few months. You will need to be physically fit as manual handling is part of your daily role.
Main Responsibilities:
* Monitoring equipment and processes to ensure that they are functioning properly, so that production can continue without interruption
* Cleaning casting moulds and other equipment used in the casting process
* Inspecting moulds to make sure they are free of defects before pouring molten metal into them
* Using hand tools such as hammers and rammers for hand ramming moulds
* Operating cranes and forklifts to move raw materials into the foundry and finished products out of the foundry
* Inspection of moulds
* Fix issues that might occur during the shift
* Check output to spot any mistakes or flaws
* Work as part of a team to prepare the sand moulds ready for the casting line
* Working in a timely manner so as to not delay the melt and pour team
* Maintain activity logs and daily check sheets
Requirements and Skills:
* Willing to learn the working knowledge of diverse high-speed machinery
* Understanding of production procedures
* Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. constant use of protective gear)
* Ability to follow operation cards
* Analytical skills
* Attention to detail
* Teamwork and communication skills
* Physical stamina and strength
* Forklift License - Not essential
* Foundry knowledge is desirable
* Overhead gantry crane driving will be required but full training will be provided
* 5s is expected within the department
* This list is not exhaustive as you will be required to train in other departments depending on the requirements of the company.
Machinery experience is not essential as full training will be given.
