Job Description

The Monitoring Data & Systems Team (MDS) manages important environmental monitoring systems and datasets. The Technical Advisor supports these systems and provides assistance to users. You will play a multi‑purpose role across Water Quality systems and other data & systems projects.
Responsibilities
* Set up and manage users
* Support users and resolve issues, particularly as we transition to the new My Environment application
* Update, improve, and maintain datasets
* Respond to internal and external data requests
* Support system improvement and upgrade projects
Qualifications
* Experience working with large complex datasets
* Willingness to develop and learn new technical skills and apply them across monitoring data and systems
* Motivated, organised, friendly, helpful, with an eye for detail, and comfortable working in a dispersed team
* Proactive problem‑solver
* Excellent written and verbal communication; able to convey complex technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences
* Ability to build and maintain strong relationships, deliver through others, and provide excellent customer service
Desirable Experience / Skills
* Experience using and managing environmental monitoring data systems
* Experience with PowerBI, Access, Excel, Python, SharePoint Online, and R
* Working knowledge of water quality monitoring

Work Location
Flexible; you must have a base at one of our offices across England and be present there. Hybrid home/office working is available, with some travel expected for meetings.
