We are seeking a highly skilled Engineering Manager to lead a small team of engineers at one of our Holton Heath Sites, with specific expertise in mould tool design, assembly fixture design, estimating/costing, and project management. This role is critical in driving the successful delivery of composite manufacturing projects from concept through to production, ensuring quality, cost, and time objectives are met.
Location and Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management.
* Lead and manage a team of project engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
* Allocate resources effectively across multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery of engineering deliverables.
* Mentor and develop junior engineers, supporting skills development and training.
Technical Engineering Oversight
* Oversee the design and development of composite mould tools and assembly fixtures to meet manufacturing and customer requirements.
* Review and approve engineering drawings, CAD models, and technical documentation.
* Ensure DFM (Design for Manufacture) principles are applied in all design work.
Project Management
* Lead engineering elements of multiple concurrent projects, from RFQ through to final delivery.
* Develop and maintain detailed project timelines, budgets, and resource plans.
* Liaise with internal departments (production, quality, procurement) and customers to ensure alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
* Develop accurate cost estimates for tooling, fixtures, and part manufacture.
* Provide technical input for commercial proposals and quotations.
* Analyse manufacturing processes and materials to identify cost-saving opportunities.
Process & Continuous Improvement
* Drive standardisation of engineering processes and implement best practices.
* Introduce tools and systems for better engineering planning, documentation, and project control.
* Support root cause analysis and implement corrective actions when required.
Requirements
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
* Strong knowledge of MRP systems- BOM Management and detailed routing definition.
* Experience in a composites manufacturing environment and processes.
* Experience in mould tool and assembly fixture design.
* Strong knowledge of CAD tools.
* Demonstrated capability in estimating and costing of tooling and composite components.
* Experience managing technical projects and small engineering teams.
* Lean Manufacturing knowledge.
