Emergency Duty Team Social Worker - AMHP
We offer effective emergency social work services to four local authorities outside normal working hours, where you will make sound judgements in a variety of challenging situations. You will be working within a small team of social work practitioners, handling contacts from the public and other professionals across Bristol, BANES, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire that require an urgent response.
What You Will Be Doing
* Work to a 10-week rolling rota, covering nights, weekends and bank holidays. This includes 2 weeks off rota and 1 week on standby. (part-time arrangements can be agreed around this model).
* Demonstrate knowledge of the relevant legislation (Mental Health Act, Children’s Act and Care Act) and statutory duties to respond appropriately to each situation.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practice in all areas of social work, along with service and policy objectives, to ensure those objectives are met.
* Collaborate with other agencies and statutory bodies (e.g., police, health) and maintain good working relationships with them.
* Complete necessary forms daily, including maintaining a log of all calls received, indicating actions taken and reporting details to the appropriate duty desk.
What We Need From You
* Role is 18.5 hours per week with pro-rata salary.
* Qualified Social Worker with relevant registration to practice (SWE Social Work England) and AMHP warranted.
* Post-qualifying mental health experience and extensive knowledge of handling complicated cases.
* Ability to undertake complex risk assessments and clearly communicate outcomes verbally and in writing.
What You Need To Know
* An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check covering both Child and Adult Workforce is required.
* After induction, opportunities to work from home may be available.
* Role requires travel throughout the authority and surrounding area; you must have a full, valid driving licence with regular access to a vehicle or an alternative means of travel.
* Business Insurance must be added to your existing policy.
* Salary: EDT Social Worker (AMHP warranted) £45,091 to £48,226 per annum (including out-of-hours shift allowance of 26% = £56,814 to £60,764).
* Recruitment payment: a gross lump sum of £3,000 pro rata payable after probation (approx. 3–6 months) subject to eligibility.
* Market factor payment: up to £3,000 pro rata payable in November to eligible staff with two years’ service in Children’s Social Care in an eligible post, inclusive of any ASYE period.
