Founded in 1884, Bangor University has a long tradition of academic excellence. The North Wales Medical School is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced applicant for the permanent role of Lecturer in Educational Psychometrics. The successful candidate will provide psychometric support, advice and guidance to the School’s activities in student assessment and selection across a number of professional programmes. The candidate will also contribute to teaching across the new independent Medicine programme, the teach-out phase of the current Cardiff C21 North Wales Medicine programme, and the new MPharm Pharmacy programme. The post offers a stimulating environment with support to fulfil professional ambitions and contribute to the development and quality assurance of the School as it expands over the next 5 years.

Responsibilities
* Lead on the delivery and development of effective, efficient selection assessment for the North Wales Medical School, drawing on best practice from educational psychometrics.
* Provide evidence-based statistical and psychometric analysis, and expert support for evaluation and quality assurance of assessment data.
* Teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including supervision of projects and students.
* Develop teaching materials or methodologies (e.g., course design or assessment) and contribute to module coordination.
* Provide pastoral and academic support to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
* Undertake administrative duties as designated by the Head of School or Dean of Medicine.
* Study for the University’s Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma/Masters in Medical Education qualification or other recognised teaching qualifications; this will be factored into the postholder’s job plan with support offered by the School.
* Oversee the development of psychometric tools and analysis to assist in standard setting and assessment.
* Contribute to teaching across programmes and support the application of psychometrics in the field.
* Participate in research and scholarly activity related to medical education; plan, prepare and deliver lectures and tutorials; supervise projects; and contribute to program development and quality assurance.
* Lead group case-based learning tutorials and provide pastoral care and academic support as an Academic Mentor and Personal Tutor.
Qualifications
* Essential (Grade 7): A higher degree in a subject with high statistical content (e.g., Mathematics, Psychology, Computer Science) and knowledge of relevant statistical and psychometric approaches to assessment analysis.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint; advanced knowledge of statistical software such as SPSS or equivalent.
* Excellent teaching capability in a relevant subject area; strong communication and IT skills to present complex analysis clearly.
* Desirable (Grade 7): Graduate-level skills in psychometrics or a relevant discipline.
* Experience with health sciences assessment methods and knowledge of VBA and/or R.
* Grade 8 additional requirements: Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCertHE) or equivalent, or recognised by HEA as a Fellow; experience of module development, supervising undergraduate and postgraduate projects, and scholarship related to learning and teaching.

* The role is located on campus at Bangor with a Dynamic Working framework allowing some remote work within the UK, discussed at interview.
