We are seeking to recruit an experienced High Voltage Engineer to work within their busy plant setting within Scunthorpe The Power and Distribution department operates and maintains high voltage equipment essential for safe and reliable operations of Scunthorpe and associated works. The scope of equipment currently maintained ranges up to 33KV and high capacity low voltage installations with all associated control equipment and services, from 1950s to current designs. Effective planning of routine work and more substantial repairs/minor projects is key to minimising impact on operations or business risk and will require frequent coordination with plant engineering and production planning. There will be a need to demonstrate leadership and coaching to others in the practical implementation of safe working practices on High Voltage equipment including competence assessment. Additionally, there will be requirement for holding authorisation duties issued by other organisations e.g. Northern Power Grid. THE ROLE Delivering electrical power around the sites to new processes/equipment through High Voltage networks. Working within the Power & Distribution department maintaining High Voltage equipment essential for safe and reliable operations of the site, supply to 3rd party consumers and some offsite facilities within North Lincolnshire. Working as part of the Centre of Excellence of High Voltage Engineering and frequently advising management, plant engineers and project engineers on high voltage matters. Organising, identifying and implementing work outside of the core electrical discipline to ensure ongoing reliable operations, for example; excavation controller duty, overseeing the organisation of mobile crane activities, Red Hot Work Permit authorisation and issuing authority for owned assets etc. Maintenance work is executed using own in-house resources, resident contractors and external specialist support. The successful candidate is expected to lead a team of team leaders and craft resources. Working to assess performance and providing personal development training. Effective planning of routine work and more substantial repairs/minor projects is key to minimising impact on operations or business risk. Operations on High Voltage equipment shall conform to High Voltage safety rules and the successful candidate will be expected to undertake all authorised duties safely and competently. Demonstrating leadership and coaching to others in practical implementation of safe working practices on High Voltage equipment. The role has a requirement for standby rota to support safe operations of High Voltage equipment. Out of hours support will be required in response to issues with the High Voltage network. THE PERSON Qualified to degree level or equivalent in an electrical discipline with significant, demonstrable experience in a similar electrical role, you will need to be someone who works well in a fast, high paced, customer focused environment. High Voltage equipment maintenance experience Authorised approved person for high voltage matters Valid UK driving license – travel around and off site will be required as part of the role Experienced with change control and management of change processes We’re looking for someone with excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills. Combining your technical and engineering knowledge, you will know how to collaborate effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
