Commissioning Engineer - HV (11kV-132kV) - UK-Wide Travel
VIQU Energy are looking for a skilled Commissioning Engineer to support high-voltage engineering and project delivery activities. This role offers the opportunity to work across renewable energy, utilities, and large-scale industrial projects, ensuring the safe and effective commissioning of HV systems up to 132 kV. Key Responsibilities
Carry out commissioning and functional testing of HV equipment (11 kV to 132 kV), including transformers, switchgear, protection relays, SCADA systems, and control wiring.
Prepare and manage commissioning documentation, including work packs, RAMS, job instructions, and detailed test reports.
Perform primary and secondary injection testing, pressure testing, cable testing (VLF and fault location), relay configuration, and SCADA interface validation.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, engaging with manufacturers and suppliers during FAT and on-site commissioning activities.
Ensure full compliance with statutory, regulatory, and industry standards while upholding quality, health, safety, and environmental policies.
Collaborate closely with design engineers, project managers, and installation teams to ensure a seamless transition through each stage of the project lifecycle. Skills & Experience Required
HNC/BEng or equivalent qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or strong demonstrable experience in HV commissioning.
Proven experience working on HV systems between 11 kV - 132 kV.
Background in renewables, utilities, or large-scale industrial projects (advantageous).
Strong knowledge of HV protection systems, testing methods, and commissioning processes.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering documentation.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently on live HV sites.
Strong communication skills with the ability to interface with clients, suppliers, and internal teams. Role: Commissioning Engineer
