Principal Structural Engineer - Energy & Resources
Lead transformative projects in renewable energy, specialising in hydropower and dam projects across the UK. You will design and deliver high‑quality major structural engineering projects, engage with clients, develop teams and contribute to our Energy sector growth. The role can be based at any UK office with flexible hybrid working.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the structural engineering design and delivery of major energy projects, from concept and scheme design to detailed design, tender, and construction packages.
* Oversee the preparation of calculation packages for submission to regulatory authorities and ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards.
* Provide technical oversight and review contributions from project engineers and technicians.
* Promote innovation in design while maintaining high‑quality standards and adhering to Stantec’s quality assurance processes.
* Manage and develop graduate engineers, engineers, and technicians within your team.
* Take ownership of resource planning, ensuring the efficient allocation of team capacity across projects.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, and contractors.
* Support the preparation of fee proposals, bids and ITTs.
* Participate in client networking and represent the team at industry events, focusing on cultivating new opportunities.
About You
* MEng or BEng in Civil or Structural Engineering.
* Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (or actively working towards it) with either the IStructE/ICE.
* Proven experience in structural design across various sectors, ideally including hydropower and dams.
* Proficiency in analysis, modelling and hand calculations.
* Demonstrated ability to lead teams on projects.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage clients and inspire team members.
