Leadership role to drive the prudent use of blood in Wales thereby promoting patient safety and safeguarding the blood supply chain • Key collaborative role working with a range of stakeholders including NHS clinical, scientific and transfusion teams and other UK blood services to develop national & UK wide policy • Lead on delivery of national clinical audit programmes and review current practice leading on innovative service improvement projects to better meet the evolving needs of the patient Main duties of the job 1. To lead the work of the Blood Health Team (BHT) in delivering the aims and objectives of the Blood Health Plan (BHP) as part of WBS IMTP commitment and as defined by the work programme of the Blood Health National Oversight Group. (BHNOG). 2. To develop and implement national strategies to support safe and appropriate use of blood in Wales 3. To design and undertake national clinical audit programmes to allow evidence-based decision making on the most effective use of blood components 4. To support the blood supply chain by providing data and intelligence from customer hospitals to monitor demand The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
