Salary: £31,650 - £45,646 p.a. (M1- UPS1)

Contract: Full time permanent position

Aurora Rowan School

Part of the Aurora Group, Aurora Rowan School in Tokers Green, Reading, Berkshire opened in November 2024, supporting young people aged 6 -16 with a diagnosis of Autism spectrum disorder, moderate to Severe Learning needs and associated difficulties, who require an individualised, specialist approach.

Opportunity

We are currently looking to recruit a teacher to join our expanding team and work alongside the Senior Leadership Team to aid the smooth running of the school.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a new venture in a school that will grow with you. You will be a part of a Brand-New School set up.

Job Summary

19. Be responsible for the quality of teaching and learning of all pupils who are assigned to the post holder, having responsibility for their progress, welfare and outcomes.
20. Supervise the work of any support staff, who are assigned to work with the post holder’s pupils.
21. Provide leadership across the school in a curriculum area, this to include:
22. monitoring quality and standards
23. contributing to school planning and self-evaluation
24. providing professional support to other teachers and support staff
25. advising the Head of Education on appropriate resources and materials
26. leading appropriate professional development.
27. Implement the aims of the school.
28. Work to the schools’ values and ensure that values are embedded in everyday practice

Please note that duties will vary and you will be expected to contribute to the overall aims of the school when required.

Knowledge and Qualifications:

29. PGCE, QTS or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training
30. Working knowledge of special education needs including relevant curriculum and learning plans.

Skills:

31. Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
32. Ability to coach and mentor LSAs, Teaching Assistants etc.
33. Ability to adapt teaching and communication skills, both written and verbal according to audience.
34. Effective skills in planning, preparation, recording and reviewing students’ progress.
35. Working knowledge of supporting pupils with ASD and those with complex communication and behavioural needs.
36. Ability to identify and de-escalate emotional and behavioural issues.
37. Good IT skills.

Experience:

38. Knowledge and personal experience of special needs, disabilities, behaviour management and associated issues.
39. Experience of working in an ASD/ SLD environment would be desirable.
