Service Care Solutions are currently working alongside a thrilling local authority based in Greater Manchester. They are looking for a Head of Legal Services to lead and develop their in-house legal function.

Responsibilities as Head of Legal Services:
* Provide strategic leadership and management of the Legal Services team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality legal advice across the Force.
* Oversee a varied and complex caseload, including contracts, procurement, governance, litigation, employment, and public law matters.
* Act as the principal legal adviser to senior officers, Chief Officers, and key stakeholders on high-risk and high-value matters.
* Ensure legal compliance across all areas of Force activity, managing legal risk and supporting effective decision-making.
* Lead on complex commercial and procurement projects of significant value, including drafting, negotiating, and approving high-value and sensitive contracts.
* Manage external legal providers and counsel, ensuring value for money and effective outcomes.
* Drive continuous improvement within the Legal Services function, contributing to policy development and service modernisation.
