Post: Street Scene Operative Level 2 (Fixed Term of 1year)
Salary: £24,404 (Grade D) pa (pay award pending)
Hours: 37 hours
This is a fantastic oportunity to be part of an efficient and busy direct works team based at the Council Depot, Bilbrook.
The team carries out grounds maintenance and street cleansing services throughout the Council’s district. Essentially, these involve general environmental maintenance and horticultural operations, the collection and transportation of litter and fly-tipped waste etc, installing signs and litterbins, watercourse clearance and other associated municipal work.
Postholders will be required to carry out work associated with the above services, either individually or as part of a team. The hours of work will be between 0630hrs and 1500hrs. It is also a requirement of the job to work occasional overtime including weekends and public holidays on a rota basis.
The possession of a current valid driving licence is essential. A knowledge and experience of basic vehicle maintenance procedures is desirable. Previous experience of manual working and the ability to undertake manual handling is an essential part of the post. Previous working within a waste/street cleansing/grounds maintenance operation is desirable. Knowledge of the South Staffordshire geographical area is also desirable, and you must be able to demonstrate the ability to communicate written and verbal instructions, have a good understanding of health and safety in the workplace and demonstrate the the ability to deal with members of the public in a polite and courteous manner.
