Job Description A well-established and friendly legal practice is seeking a Residential Conveyancing Legal Assistant to join its busy Bedford office. The role would suit someone with conveyancing experience or a strong legal administrative background who is looking to progress within residential property law. The Role You will provide day-to-day administrative and legal support to fee earners, ensuring residential property matters run efficiently and clients receive a professional, responsive service. Key responsibilities include: Providing general administrative support within the residential property team Preparing and issuing client quotations Acting as a point of contact for clients, solicitors, lenders, and estate agents Providing regular client updates and monitoring matter progression Opening and closing files on the case management system in line with AML, SRA, and CQS requirements Assisting with freehold and leasehold conveyancing matters Carrying out online searches and managing search results Using the Land Registry portal to submit registrations, respond to requisitions, and obtain official copies, leases, and title plans Preparing Stamp Duty Land Tax calculations and submitting applications Preparing bills, receipts, and payments for submission to the finance team Providing occasional reception cover when required About You Previous experience as a Conveyancing Assistant is preferred Good understanding of the day-to-day operations of a legal office Confident using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Working knowledge of case management systems Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail Ability to manage multiple matters and work effectively under pressure Clear and professional communication skills Basic understanding of the residential conveyancing process The Package Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:15 (1-hour lunch break) Start: Immediate start available Salary: Competitive and dependent on experience Holiday: 26 days annual leave plus bank holidays Pension scheme Firm-funded eye tests Monthly holiday bonus scheme (additional annual leave linked to regional performance) Comprehensive training and development, including support towards professional qualifications This role offers the chance to join a stable, approachable firm so if interested, please apply here or call Kim to discuss further.
