Colchester Medical Practice has a fantastic opportunity for a GP assistant (GPA) or a healthcare assistant (HCA) to join our team. The GPA/HCA position is a support role, covering administrative tasks and, if appropriate, some basic clinical duties, to assist the GPs, enabling them to make the best use of consultation time. The post-holder will form part of our multi-disciplinary, primary-care team and contribute to the smooth running of the surgery. The main duties of this role will include: Managing incoming and outgoing clinical correspondence. Extracting information from clinical documents that require coding. Arranging appointments, referrals, tests and follow-up appointments. Completing basic (non-opinion) forms, and core elements of some forms, for the GP to approve and sign. These might include insurance, mortgage and benefits agency forms, for example. Improving patient flow. Supporting patient experience by reiterating information from the GP. Assisting with practice tasks. Helping the GP liaise with outside agencies e.g. arranging admission. Supporting the prescription clerk team.
