Aims of the post
To work as part of the Centre Management Team to provide a high quality first class point of contract for visitors and volunteers to the Centre, maintaining the building and its grounds plus ensuring health and safety of the site at all times. The post holder will be expected to work with Trust staff, Contractors and Volunteers to ensure the health, safety and security of community members, the site and Trust property at all times.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Ensure that the building is open to welcome visitors and volunteers to the Centre and set up for the days activities, liaising with the Centre Manager as required for cover.
2. Inspect and identify maintenance problems and determine appropriate repair and respond to emergency repairs, obtaining quotes as required.
3. Be the out of hours contact for the building, responding to emergency call outs if required.
4. Plan and organise regular routine maintenance and redecoration schedules.
5. Monitoring and supervising entry to and exit from the building and grounds, outside of core opening hours, reporting any issues or concerns to the Centre Manager, as appropriate.
6. Ensure that the reception entrance foyer and perimeter of the building including the car park is clean and attractive to welcome staff, volunteers and visitors to the building, sweeping leaves, litter picking, updating and refreshing any external signage or notice boards as required. Be familiar with and competent in all aspects of building and site security to ensuring safety of our people and property at all times, including monitoring CCTV, fire alarms, panic buttons, safeguarding and health and safety policy.
7. Deal with face-to-face enquiries, take messages as required, liaising promptly with the Centre Manager.
8. Be familiar with the services offered at the Centre and the Trust across Medway, in order to deal with enquiries, take messages and advise that someone would call back when the office is open.
9. Ensure that café chairs are taken down, all meeting rooms and shared spaces are clean, presentable and ready for planned use with equipment and layout as specified within the room booking system.
10. Be prepared to undertake relevant health and safety training and duties as required, including working at heights, H&S, First Aid, Manual Handling and Fire Warden training.

5. Be aware of and take responsibility for reporting health and safety issues on site, faulty equipment, incidents and taking remedial action to ensure the security and safety of building users.
6. Build good relationships with local plumbers, electricians etc.
7. Promote Sunlight Development Trust and its services as an ambassador, encouraging financial donations or raffle prizes to support our charitable activities.
