Bushfire Risk Mitigation Coordinator – Shire of Capel
Full‑time, contract position hosted by the Shire of Capel, working across Capel, Collie and Dardanup.
Annual base salary $102,995 per annum (dependent on skills, experience and qualifications).
Full‑time 19‑day work month, base annual salary $102,995 per annum, annual leave loading 17.5%, up to 14% Shire superannuation contribution, commuter use of a Shire vehicle.
Responsibilities
* Work with key stakeholders to identify, prioritise and evaluate mitigation activities.
* Plan, deliver and evaluate bushfire risk mitigation treatment plans in accordance with the Bushfire Risk Mitigation Coordinator Business Plan.
* Co‑ordinate and oversee contractors to ensure work is completed safely, to the right standard and in line with environmental requirements.
* Analyse information, solve problems and manage workloads to meet deadlines.
* Maintain accurate data, produce reports and keep records of bushfire risk mitigation activities.
Qualifications & Experience
* Experience in emergency management and bushfire risk, with knowledge of how landowners and agencies manage bushfire risk.
* Experience using bushfire mitigation techniques that protect the environment and support biodiversity.
* Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
* Understanding and practical use of risk management principles.
* Current C Class WA driver’s licence (or higher) that remains valid during employment.
* A current C Class WA driver’s licence (or higher) that remains valid during employment.
* A current C Class WA driver’s licence (or higher) that remains valid during employment.
Additional Desired Skills

* Experience sourcing, coordinating and overseeing contractors.
* Experience with rural fire management, funding, project management and DFES’ Bushfire Risk Management System.
