About the job: The Lead Engineer provides technical leadership and hands-on expertise to support a team of solar maintenance electricians. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of solar energy systems. The Lead Engineer offers guidance and mentoring to team members, and acts as the primary point of escalation for complex technical issues, ensuring compliance with electrical standards, safety regulations, and company performance goals.


About Ecovision:

Ecovision has extensive experience design, installation and managing distributed rooftop solar PV asset portfolios across the UK.

We have installed over 5500 systems and currently manage over 19,000 installations across mainland UK 63MWp capacity), primarily on behalf of Portfolio Investors, Councils and Housing Associations. We have a strong track record of manging long term solar performance and work with clients to minimise operational costs whilst maximising the generation of renewable energy.

What you’ll do:

· Provide technical direction and engineering leadership and build a motivated, professional, engaged, skilled and driven Solar PV Engineer Team that can support the company’s growth.

· Offer technical guidance and solutions for the operational O&M internal customer support functions.

· Control all costs within agreed budgets where applicable.

· Ensure all health and safety regulations are adhered to and communicated to all field engineers (toolbox talks etc.)

· Ensure new hires are thoroughly introduced to company policies, culture, and expectations as well as providing an induction training plan.

· Carry out 121’s and yearly appraisals with all external engineers as required.

· Work with the management team to ensure the Company meets its performance targets.

· Support with improving service levels through excellent customer service, consistent and efficient working practice.

· Keep up to date with industry and legislation changes.

· The post holder may be required to undertake other reasonable adhoc duties as appropriate and requested by their Line Manager.



What you’ll need:

· Significant experience in the Operations and Maintenance of rooftop Solar PV systems from both a technical and commercial perspective

· 2365 L3, NVQ3, 2391 Testing and Inspecting, along with proven experience in electrical installations.

· The ability to train, evaluate, coach and mentor staff to fulfil their potential.

· Experience with solar PV installations.

· The ability to systematise and process flow common fault types (from a technical perspective) with support from operations and IT.

· Strong background in electrical engineering with a deep understanding of how these apply to solar PV.

· Self-starter, motivated to establish new systems and processes and constantly improve and evolve the technical function.

· Strong management skills to recruitment, motivate and retain staff.

· A team player, the ability to work with internal O&M, installations and sales departments to ensure the engineering team provide the support required for a growing business.

· This role will be based on the road and therefore the postholder will require a clean driving license and experience driving long distances.


Any offer of employment will require a Disclosure and Barring Service check, satisfactory references and completion of a successful 6 month probation period.


Location: You will be field-based from home, travelling to Solar PV sites within an 80-mile radius of your location. From time to time, you will also be required to attend the office or meet with your team. In return, you’ll receive a fully expensed company vehicle, all necessary IT equipment, and access to further training opportunities to support your development.


Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.



Salary: Competitive and dependent upon experience.
