Senior Wells Engineer - Decommissioning

Position Overview
This position offers the opportunity to deliver global decommissioning operations in line with decommissioning strategy for wells and facilities in the energy sector. The role provides technical and strategic oversight related to decommissioning planning and execution, collaborating with various teams to ensure best practices, regulatory compliance, and cost efficiency. The focus is on supporting both operated and non-operated assets and contributing towards operational excellence and sustainable decommissioning.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide technical support and assurance for decommissioning plans, methodologies, regulatory compliance, and abandonment designs.
* Support evaluation and selection of third-party and external decommissioning operators, including scope definition and interface alignment.
* Contribute to preparation of financial and authorization documents for decommissioning activities, ensuring compliance with budgetary and best practice requirements.
* Steer systematic onboarding of third-party decommissioning operators, focusing on risk management and meeting legislative requirements.
* Offer technical guidance throughout execution phases to ensure alignment with strategic, regulatory, and internal assurance standards.
* Engage with industry peers, service providers, and academia for knowledge sharing and to remain updated on methodologies and technologies relevant to decommissioning.
* Collaborate with technology teams to identify and support innovations that drive safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness in decommissioning.
* Support regional teams in developing area development plans and late-life planning to ensure robust decommissioning preparation.
* Engage with partners to influence estimates, planning, and execution strategies aimed at optimizing costs and mitigating risks.
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree in engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
* Extensive technical background in well engineering with a strong focus on plug and abandonment activities and decommissioning.
* Experience in cost estimation, regulatory compliance, and decommissioning execution within the oil and gas industry.
