I am seeking experienced CNC Machinists to join my renowned aviation industry client based in West London, close to Heathrow Airport. These are night shift roles, following initial induction training on day shift. This role plays a key part in the machining and finishing of aircraft components, supporting critical Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) operations. The CNC Machine Operator will be responsible for the setup, programming, and operation of CNC machines used to cut, shape, and finish metal components to exact aerospace specifications. The role requires a strong focus on precision machining, quality control, and traceability. Role: CNC Machinists (Nights) Location: Hayes, West London Shift: Sunday night - Thursday night Salary: C. £43,000 - £45,000 incl. shift allowance Applicants must already hold the right to live and work in the UK. Main responsibilities: Set up and operate CNC machines, identifying and troubleshooting malfunctions and reporting repair requirements where necessary. Perform basic CNC programming and editing, including loading control programs and retrieving pre-programmed instructions. Machine aircraft components to produce high-precision and micro-finish surfaces during turning, facing, and machining operations. Review setup sheets, engineering drawings, and specifications to determine machining sequences and procedures. Install fixtures and secure workpieces using clamps, bolts, hand tools, and precision measuring equipment. Set tool offsets and initiate machining processes. Monitor machine performance and adjust feed rates, speeds, and parameters to maintain quality and dimensional accuracy. Detect abnormalities such as tool wear, vibration, or equipment malfunction. Replace cutting tools and reposition workpieces during the machining process as required. Carry out in-process and final inspections using micrometers, dial indicators, gauges, and other measuring instruments. Maintain full documentation and traceability of work in accordance with aerospace quality and regulatory standards. Ensure production schedules and deadlines are met while maintaining high quality standards. Ideal candidate profile: Experience operating CNC machines such as CNC lathes, engine lathes, or vertical milling machines Basic CNC programming knowledge Experience with FANUC controls preferred Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical blueprints Good understanding of machining processes, cutting tools, and shop mathematics Ability to independently align, secure, and support workpieces Aerospace experience desirable but not essential Strong team player with excellent communication skills Proactive, self-motivated with a positive attitude Ability to analyse issues and identify root causes GCSE level education or equivalent Fluent written and spoken English Additional information: Primarily a night shift role (training initially on day shift & paid at day shift rate) Flexibility to work overtime and occasional weekends when required Free onsite parking Discounted Flight & Hotel Benefits Reduced Gym Memberships.
