Senior Electrical Design Engineer – Building Services
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 DOE
Location: St Albans
A reputable and dynamic engineering consultancy is seeking a qualified Electrical Design Engineer (Building Services) to join their growing team. Based in the South-East, this is a permanent position offering involvement in a wide range of high-profile and award-winning projects in the education, leisure, residential, and commercial sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Develop detailed electrical building services designs, including lighting and cable calculations.
Ensure compliance with Part L and other relevant regulations.
Design and specify low-carbon and renewable technologies.
Collaborate closely with architects, clients, structural engineers, contractors, and utility providers.
Undertake site inspections and coordinate with project stakeholders.
Assist in project management tasks across multiple live projects.
Develop concepts into detailed design packages, including equipment selection and specification.
Contribute to achieving BREEAM and sustainability goals within projects.Experience and Qualifications Required
Essential:
Right to work in the UK (British citizen or valid UK work permit).
Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in electrical building services design (preferably within the UK).
Strong electrical design skills and an understanding of UK building services standards.
Valid driver’s licence and own transport.Desirable (but not essential):
Knowledge of BS 7671 and other relevant British Standards.
Experience with Revit MEP and other design tools.
Familiarity with BREEAM and sustainable building design practices.
Sector experience in education, leisure, residential, and mixed-use developments.Benefits:
