Working closely with the Financial Controller, Commercial Accountant, and Finance Assistant, you will be a key member of the finance team.
You will also support the cross-functional UK and Overseas Management Teams across all departments including Operations, Commercial, Technical, Engineering, HR, and IT.
This role will involve both UK and international responsibilities, offering valuable accounting experience across Group-level operations.
KEY DUTIES
• Prepare accurate and timely monthly Management Accounts, including detailed cost analysis
• Support the budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes across multiple business units
• Oversee the preparation and posting of monthly accruals and prepayments
• Ensure timely and accurate balance sheet reconciliations, maintaining integrity and completeness
• Maintain the fixed asset register, including tracking of additions, disposals, and depreciation
• Liaise with financial institutions, providing current financial data and supporting documentation for loans and asset finance arrangements
• Oversee and coordinate weekly and monthly cash flow forecasts, ensuring proactive cash management
• Support the Financial Controller in identifying, implementing, and monitoring automation and digitalisation initiatives within the finance function
• Drive process improvements and support the development and enhancement of finance systems and tools
• Qualified (ACCA/CIMA) or qualified by experience
• Proficient in Excel (Lookups, pivot tables)
• Strong communication skills, both verbally and written
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and external partners
• Excellent time management skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritise
• Team player
• Full driving license due to some Uk travel
• Flexibility with regard to travel and working hours, e.g. working at other sites
DESIRABLE SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
• Experience of the waste industry
• Coordinate with external auditors and stakeholders, particularly during year-end and statutory reporting cycles
• Ensure ongoing compliance with accounting standards, company financial policies, and relevant health and safety regulations
• Ensure full compliance with all Company policies and procedures including, but not limited to, Health and Safety and Employment.
• Fully support and contribute to the upkeep of our management systems (CMS, ISO 9001,14001 & 45001)
• Any other duties, such as ad hoc projects, as requested by the Financial Controller, that are within the skills and capabilities of the jobholder
