Overview
Consultant Psychiatrist in Rehabilitation - 229125 role at NHS Lothian. This is a less than full time (8 Programmed Activities) replacement post in Rehabilitation Psychiatry. The previous post holder is retiring. The post is available from November 2025. If interested applicants are looking for a different pattern of work we would encourage them to contact us. NHS Lothian has a well established psychiatric rehabilitation service based at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital, encompassing a 64 bed inpatient service and a dedicated community rehabilitation service with a caseload of around 100 people.
The inpatient service is split into five wards with a full range of MDT input and has been noted for high quality care planning and strong relationships between staff and patients by recent reports.

Qualifications
Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Portfolio Pathway (formerly CESR) route applicants are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.

Station/Service Details

The inpatient service is organised into wards with MDT input including nursing, occupational therapy, clinical psychology, physiotherapy, arts therapy and recreational coordinators.
