Legal & Finance Officer – Block Management

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Legal & Finance Officer to join our Block Management team. This role ensures the smooth operation of legal compliance, financial management, and governance across residential and commercial block portfolios. The position requires strong knowledge of property law, service charge accounting, and regulatory frameworks, along with excellent organisational and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

Legal & Compliance

* Ensure compliance with landlord and tenant legislation (e.g., Landlord and Tenant Act 1985, Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act 2002).
* Oversee insurance claims, policies, and compliance with relevant covenants.
* Company Secretarial compliance for our clients including updating company records and Articles of Association
* Compile LPE1 and associated notices for sales and legal transfers

Financial Management

* Oversee preparation and administration of annual service charge budgets.
* Ensure timely collection of service charges, ground rents, and reserve fund contributions.
* Monitor arrears and take appropriate enforcement action in line with legal procedures.
* Work with accountants and auditors to prepare year-end service charge accounts.
* Prepare financial reports for leaseholders, freeholders, and senior management.

Skills & Qualifications

* Strong understanding of property law, landlord and tenant legislation, and leasehold management.
* Ideally experience in service charge accounting and financial reporting.
* Excellent organisational, analytical, and negotiation skills.
* Proficient in property management software and Microsoft Office suite.
* Ability to communicate clearly with solicitors, leaseholders, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
