Location: HMP The Mount, Molyneaux Ave, Bovingdon, Hemel Hempstead, Herts. HP3 0NZ
Salary: £25,566.00 per annum
Contract: Full time, 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday, fixed term

About the role
As an Apprentice Mechanical Engineer, you will learn alongside experienced professionals while supporting the maintenance and repair of critical mechanical, plumbing, and heating systems that keep sites safe and operational. Through on‑the‑job learning, mentoring, and formal training, you will build specialist knowledge, practical skills, and recognised qualifications—offering a clear path into a mechanical engineering career.
Responsibilities
* Assist with maintenance and repair of mechanical, plumbing, and heating systems.
* Support senior engineers during troubleshooting and system upgrades.
* Participate in on‑the‑job training and formal education programmes.
Qualifications
* GCSEs or equivalent at grades A to C or 9 to 4 in English and Maths.
* Demonstrated practical work or mechanical aptitude.
* Skilled in the Microsoft Office suite of applications.
* Good organisational skills.
