Offer description

Are you ready to build secure, reliable healthcare integrations that make a real difference? Do you love turning complex interface requirements into elegant, maintainable code?

At Harris Health Alliance, part of Harris Computer, we believe that innovation and reliability in healthcare software can transform patient outcomes. As a Senior Integration Developer / Integration Developer (.NET) focused on EPR integrations, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring that critical patient data flows seamlessly between Electronic Patient Record (EPR) platforms and the wider healthcare ecosystem.

This permanent role offers full remote flexibility, with occasional travel to our collaborative offices in Chippenham, Chester, Swindon, and Plymouth. Join a forward-thinking, inclusive, and innovative professional services team that values technical excellence and real-world impact.

What you will do

Your key responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):

Design and Implementation

1. Design and implement .NET-based integration services and APIs connecting EPRs with internal and third-party systems.

2. Design and implement core product functionality, including UI, across the .NET stack — delivering accessible, performant, and maintainable user interfaces.

3. Contribute to shared components, patterns, and documentation to ensure long-term maintainability and consistency across products.

4. Build and maintain message flows and transformations for HL7 v2/v3 and FHIR (R4/R5) standards.

Integration and Interoperability

5. Integrate with NHS systems such as Spine, MESH, GP Connect, eRS, and PDS/SDS using secure, standards-based methods.

6. Implement event-driven architectures and messaging patterns (e.g., Azure Service Bus, queues/topics, webhooks) ensuring idempotency and resilience.

Engineering Excellence

7. Own the full SDLC: requirements, design, coding, testing, deployment, and observability.

8. Ensure high standards of performance, scalability, and security (OAuth2/OIDC, mTLS, JWT).

9. Create clear technical documentation, reusable components, and maintain audit-ready evidence for compliance.

Collaboration and Support

10. Work closely with project managers, solution architects, QA, DevOps, and client technical teams.

11. Support testing cycles (system and UAT) and contribute to go-live planning.

12. Provide 3rd-line engineering support for live integrations.

Leadership (Senior Level)

13. Lead design reviews and mentor other developers.

14. Set engineering standards and drive continuous improvement in integration practices.

What we are looking for

15. Proven experience delivering integrations using C# /.NET in production environments.

16. Hands-on knowledge of healthcare interoperability, including HL7, FHIR, and RESTful APIs.

17. Strong SQL skills and comfort with transactional performance tuning.

18. Experience with Azure (or equivalent AWS environment).

19. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and infrastructure as code.

20. Understanding of secure integration in regulated environments (TLS/mTLS, secrets management).

21. Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical detail into clear, business-focused updates.

22. Organised, proactive, and quality-driven, with a focus on clinical safety and compliance.

23. For Senior Level:

24. Experience leading designs and guiding engineering efforts across multiple integrations.

Desirable Skills

25. Experience with interface engines (e.g., Mirth, Rhapsody, IRIS Health Connect).

26. Knowledge of API design standards, SMART on FHIR, or GraphQL.

27. Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and NHS clinical safety standards (DCB0129/DCB0160).

28. Experience with Jira, Confluence, and Agile delivery environments.
