An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Radiotherapy (RT) patient pathway supervisor. We are currently seeking a keen, enthusiastic, self-motivated and highly organised individual with excellent communications skills to supervise our RT booking team. The successful post holder will help streamline the patient treatment pathway, supervise the booking team, and help collate data on RT delivery.
As well as having excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills. It is essential that applicants can prioritise work, handle difficult situations, have a flexible approach to working, work as part of a team and have experience in working in the NHS.
The post holder will be responsible for supervising and managing staff, prioritising work, monitoring breach dates in line with cancer treatment targets.
The post holder will be responsible for monitoring and streamlining patient treatment pathways, preventing hospital cancellations & DNA’s, supporting full utilization of treatment space.
The post holder will work closely with clinicians, clinical leads and managers to ensure RT delivery.
Main duties of the job
To work under the direct/indirect supervision of the registered therapeutic radiographer to ensure the smooth and effective delivery of Radiotherapy.
.To facilitate the Radiotherapy patient pathway by co-ordinating and proactively tracking the timeliness of patient treatments within the National guidelines ensuring all pre-treatment investigations are carried out prior to Radiotherapy.
To work through patient treatment lists with the registered therapeutic radiographer checking everything required is in place prior to commencing Radiotherapy, liaising with relevant professionals / patients where necessary.
To be responsible for supervising the bookings team, including induction, annual leave planning, health rostering, sickness management and appraisals.
The role involves being proficient in the main hospital booking systems as well as Aria, training staff in these, identifying technical issues, and escalating them to the relevant team.
It is important to ensure a pleasant and efficient service for patients, offering a professional level of care and showing empathy towards upset patients and relatives, even in difficult situations.
Additionally, responsibilities include managing and monitoring waiting lists and treatment pathways, preventing and reporting any breaches to the appropriate manager.
The role may require prioritizing urgent appointments and rescheduling appointments, so flexibility and the ability to manage workload disruptions are essential.
Being aware of deadlines and planning and structuring working practices to meet them is crucial.
