About the Post:
Where: Barnsley's New town centre complex The Glass Works, and the planned refurbished Alhambra Centre, an exciting shopping and leisure destination in Barnsley. Situated at the heart of Barnsley Town Centre, home to some of the biggest brands, including Next, Flannels and the Botanist, fantastic independent retailers and coffee shops as well as Cineworld and Superbowl. At the centres you will also find the historic Barnsley Market, Market Kitchen food hall and the Library @ the Lightbox. NHS Diagnostic Centre and the future projects from Health on the High Street.

The Role: As part of the busy operations team you will help manage and maintain the site, which includes The Glass Works, Alhambra Centre and the town centre outdoor public areas. Primarily working in the waste management of the site and the general upkeep of the centres.
To work with the centre management team, to ensure the daily operations of the site are adhered to. To ensure all areas are maintained in a clean, safe and attractive condition in order to support these undertakings and to provide a successful centre as a major contribution to a successful town centre.
The Operative role is responsible for delivering the day to day facilities services across the floors and buildings of the site. The key focus for this role is to ensure that all services are delivered in a confident efficient and timely manner with least interruption to the customer.
* Overseeing the collection, sorting and safe disposal of client waste and recycling materials on site
* Segregating waste, identifying and storage of recyclables, empty and refresh recycling/waste bins, regular checks on the condition of equipment
* Keeping the refuse and recycling compound area tidy, clean and safe, dealing with lost property
* Safe use of chemicals, ensuring appropriate safety signage is in use, working with cleaning operatives to identify any waste or recycling issues, and working with the Cleaning Service Manager to report any faults or hazards
* Delivering consistent level of high service to the client, working to the company standards and contract requirements
* Complying with the company corporate environmental policy, statutory regulations on Safe Systems of Work, hygiene, health and safety, cleanliness, fire and COSHH.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate for this role will have:
* Some experience in a similar role and environment with good understanding of recycling methods and waste reduction
* Experience of working in a team
* Experience of manual handling
* The ability to work under instruction but also may be required to work unsupervised
* Excellent communication skills
* A full clean driving license is (preferred)
