Home, a place where you belong
As a Real Estate Placement student, you’ll gather the facts that help our surveyors make smart decisions about homes and land. This is hands-on, real-world work, not time spent filing. You’ll see how asset deals happen, learn from surveyors who want to teach, and get stuck into work that matters. If you want a placement that grows your confidence and your CV, this is a step up from the usual sandwich placement role!
What you’ll do
1. Gather accurate data to support valuations across homes, land and workspaces
2. Keep sales and purchase trackers up to date to cases move smoothly
3. Prepare clear information for rent reviews and lease renewals
4. Collect and record details for acquisitions and disposals
5. Work with surveyors and partners to share information on time.
Why join us
You’ll get real responsibility from day one, with surveyors who take time to guide you. You’ll learn how asset decisions are made, and you’ll build skills that help you move towards RICS routes. You’ll see the impact of your work on colleagues and customers who rely on good property decisions. Be part of one of the UK’s top 10 Great Places to Work!
You have
6. Real Estate degree under way or equivalent experience
7. An interest in residential and commercial asset management
8. The ability to gather and record accurate information
9. Basic knowledge of property law or construction principles
10. You have the drive to learn from surveyors and apply your studies.
Stronger together
We do our best work when we’re ourselves. That’s why inclusion, wellbeing, and our diversity networks help makeHome Group a great place to work!
The practical bits
11. You’ll work Monday to Friday 9 am to 5:30 pm
12. We typically work on a hybrid basis with 2 days per week in our Newcastle upon Tyne office, with the rest from home
13. We have one team anchor day each week, when everyone comes into the office. This is currently Thursday, but may change depending on business needs
14. The role may involve occasional UK-wide travel. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle would be advantageous but not essential.
What’s in it for you?
15. 34 days leave, rising to 39 (this includes bank holidays and a “me day”).
16. 2 paid volunteering days each year
17. Health cash plan saving you (and your children) £1140+ each year covering dental, opticians, prescriptions and more
18. Matching pension contribution (up to 7% and life insurance of 3x basic salary)
19. Work your way with flexibility to balance life and work
