We have committed to being a net zero organisation by 2030. Defra Group Fleet Services is responsible for leading the fleet transition to net carbon zero. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a team of fleet specialists to support delivery of ambitious fleet targets and drive tangible change. You will work with colleagues across the organisation to identify business needs, determine contract strategy, and lead tender processes including award of contracts.
You will lead on relationships with key suppliers, manage contracts through the full lifecycle, develop and monitor KPIs, work with suppliers to reduce environmental footprint, maintain a cost-effective fleet and ensure compliance with legal and health & safety responsibilities. Excellent relationship management and influencing skills are critical to the role.
The team: Defra Group Fleet Services (DGFS) is a national team within the Strategy, Transformation & Assurance Directorate. The Contracts team develops contract requirements, determines and awards contracts, and manages supplier performance to ensure delivery of contracted services. The role reports to the Fleet Manager for Contracts.
Responsibilities
* Lead on procurement and contract management activities for Environment Agency and Defra Partners, including purchase and service contracts.
* Identify business needs, determine contract strategy, and lead tender processes including contract awards.
* Develop and manage relationships with key suppliers; oversee contracts through the entire lifecycle.
* Develop and monitor KPIs; work with suppliers to reduce environmental footprint and maintain a cost-effective fleet.
* Ensure compliance with legal, health & safety, and environmental targets.
* Collaborate with internal and external partners to promote Agency goals and reputation.
* Contribute to policy and process development at national/local levels and implement in business operations.
Experience & Qualifications
* Experience of contract management and supplier relationship management in a fleet or related sector.
* Experience of procurement processes within Defra would be desirable.
* Well-organised, self-starter with the ability to work in a dispersed, flexible team environment.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
Location & Work Arrangements
The location is flexible; you will be comfortable working as part of a dispersed team with remote working and occasional national meetings, possibly with overnight stays. Some EA offices may be required.
