Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant Location: Rotherham S25 Salary: £460–£600 per week Contract Type: Full time, long-term / Day-to-day Start Date: Immediately Are you passionate about supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? A school in Rotherham (S25) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team and make a meaningful impact on students’ development and learning. About the Role: As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will support the learning, social development, and emotional growth of students with SEMH needs. You will work closely with teachers and staff to implement personalised strategies that encourage engagement, independence, and progress. Responsibilities: - Implement personalised support plans tailored to the needs of each student, promoting independence and personal growth. - Create a supportive and inclusive environment that fosters trust, confidence, and positive relationships. - Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and multidisciplinary staff to deliver comprehensive student support. - Monitor and record student progress, adhering to school and individual support plans. - Support students in managing behaviour and developing social and emotional skills. - Assist with daily routines, including personal care where required, with dignity and respect. - Encourage student participation in learning activities using effective communication and motivational strategies. Qualifications: - Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or related needs is preferred. - Understanding of SEMH conditions and evidence-based support strategies. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to adapt to a dynamic classroom environment and diverse student needs. - Compassionate, patient, and committed to supporting students’ personal and academic development.
