The Centre for Global Health at the Usher Institute within The University of Edinburgh is looking for an Evidence synthesis and literature search specialist to carry out research activities as part of a fully-funded research programme and subprojects aimed at producing and disseminating high-quality systematic reviews and evidence syntheses on a wide range of health and social care topics.
Responsibilities
* Assist with developing and co-authoring evidence syntheses, providing methodological advice and expertise on literature searching, screening and identification for both research protocols and full reviews.
* Contribute to training activities of the programme, including training other researchers and students.
* Assist with the ongoing development of the research portfolio, especially in terms of incorporating automation and tools into the review production process.
Qualifications
* Academic degree in the field of information science, library and information studies, public health, health sciences or a related field.
* Relevant experience in a research environment.
* Experience in conducting own literature review to completion.
* Experience in developing complex search strategies using major electronic databases such as MEDLINE and EMBASE.
* Experience in using reference management software such as EndNote.
* Experience in reviewing and evaluating search strategies.
* Excellent interpersonal, writing and communication skills.
* Ability to work as part of a small, closely knit team while maintaining considerable autonomy.
* Ability to prioritise own workload, manage time and work to deadlines.
* Excellent computing, auditing and record‑keeping skills.
* Understanding of different types of epidemiological study.
* Interest in incorporating new technologies into literature searching and screening.
