Environmental Health and Enforcement Officer
Brent Council is seeking an Environmental Health Officer / Enforcement Officer to join the Food and Health and Safety Team. The role involves food safety, health and safety, infectious disease control and smoke‑free enforcement across the Civic Centre area.
What you’ll do
* Carry out inspections, investigations and audits across food safety and health and safety areas.
* Provide advice, support and guidance to local businesses and the public to ensure statutory compliance.
* Manage a mixed caseload of proactive and reactive work, including complaint investigations and enforcement actions.
* Conduct infectious disease control activities and smoke‑free enforcement duties.
* Prepare and present reports, evidence and case files for legal proceedings when required.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues, partner agencies and community stakeholders to deliver service objectives.
We’re looking for someone with
* A Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health and EHRB registration (or who will achieve registration within six months).
* Relevant experience in food safety and health and safety enforcement.
* Ability to manage a busy workload and deliver results within set deadlines.
* Strong communication, problem‑solving and customer service skills.
* A flexible and proactive approach to work, including occasional out‑of‑hours duties.
* Commitment to continuous learning and maintaining professional standards.
* A full UK driving licence.
