We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

This is a permanent, full time position.

The shift pattern for this position is Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00.

NHSGGC, South Sector Directorate Has An Exciting Opportunity For Full-time Band 5 Waiting List & Admin Manager Within The Ophthalmology Service. Ophthalmology Provides Services On 8 Hospital Sites Across NHSGGC, Receiving Over 2000 New Referrals Per Month. The Service Has 40 Consultants Supported By Optometrists, Orthoptists And Nursing Staff. The Post Reports To The Ophthalmology Service Support Manager And Key Tasks Include


* Management of staff including Medical secretaries, Audio Typists and Coordinators.
* Day–to-day management of the waiting lists / times ensuring compliance with waiting list procedures and with waiting time guarantees & targets in line with ‘New Ways’ and the Patients’ Rights Act.
* Managing clinic & theatre capacity to ensure that clinical priorities and waiting time targets are met through effective use of available resources.

Requirements

* Applicants will require a minimum of 3 years’ experience within an NHS administrative setting.
* Detailed knowledge of NHS waiting list procedures & medical records secretarial practices.
* Experience of managing and supervising staff is desirable, with the ability to organise, motivate and develop teams.
* Ability to work on own initiative and under pressure, making decisions and dealing with numerous concurrent tasks at varying timescales
