Monitor and maintain the fit and mechanical performance of prostheses over time, addressing issues proactively to prevent complications. Utilise evidence-based clinical decision-making to support improved outcomes and meet contractual and professional standards.Multidisciplinary Collaboration Work as a core member of the multidisciplinary team, contributing clinical expertise while respecting the contributions of other professionals.
Take the lead in prescribing appropriate prosthetic interventions and communicate clearly with colleagues, patients, families, and carers. Provide clear, concise instructions to technical staff for the manufacture or modification of devices, ensuring safety, precision, and timeliness. Participate in case discussions, joint clinics, and patient reviews with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and other specialists. Clinical Governance and Quality Assurance Participate in clinical audit, outcomes tracking, incident reporting, and service development projects as part of the clinical governance framework.
Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive patient records, ensuring compliance with HCPC, GDPR, and Data Protection legislation. Ensure all job sheets, stock records, and associated documentation are completed with clarity and accuracy to support invoicing and audit trails. Contribute to service evaluation, quality improvement initiatives, and innovation in clinical and operational practice. Professional Development and Education Engage in ongoing professional development, staying informed of new technologies, materials, and treatment protocols within prosthetics.
Support and mentor prosthetic students and junior staff through supervision, clinical teaching, and feedback. Deliver formal teaching sessions and presentations to peers, allied health professionals, or students to promote awareness of prosthetic practice. Represent the organisation positively at conferences, workshops, or meetings, acting as a clinical ambassador when required. Safeguarding and Patient Welfare Adhere to all organisational safeguarding policies and procedures in relation to children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
Remain alert to signs of abuse, neglect, or exploitation and report concerns in a timely and appropriate manner, following local safeguarding pathways. Ensure that all prosthetic interventions are delivered in a safe, respectful, and non-discriminatory environment. Maintain up-to-date training in safeguarding legislation and practice, and contribute to a culture of vigilance, safety, and advocacy within the team. Operational and Contractual Compliance Understand and deliver care in accordance with the specific contract model and service-level agreements at each centre.
Assist in managing clinical operations, including deputising for the Prosthetic Manager when required, supporting scheduling, triage, and coordination of care. Highlight opportunities for service improvement and participate in service reviews or contract reporting as needed. Ensure professional and organisational standards are met across all aspects of service delivery. Health, Safety, and Ethical Conduct Follow all health and safety protocols within clinical and workshop settings, including safe handling of materials, tools, and patient equipment.
Promote and adhere to infection control procedures and risk assessment protocols. Maintain high standards of professional integrity, compassion, and ethical conduct, in accordance with HCPC guidance and company values.
