Finance Officer
Location: Rotherham
Salary: Dependent on Experience
Hours: Full - Time, 37 hours per week
Contract: Until December 2026
Our client, a well-established education provider, is seeking a motivated Finance Officer to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain significant experience in a large and fast-paced finance department, supporting key financial processes that help the organisation deliver outstanding services.

What you’ll be doing
• Maintaining the purchase ledger, sales ledger and cashier functions
• Ensuring accurate registration and processing of invoices
• Issuing timely income invoices in line with financial procedures
• Setting up and managing Direct Debits
• Downloading and posting bank transactions
• Checking and distributing purchase orders daily
• Managing shared finance and procurement inboxes
• Handling finance enquiries and directing customers appropriately
• Receiving, verifying and receipting incoming payments
• Reconciling and posting online payment system transactions
• Posting approved payments via online banking
• Carrying out regular housekeeping tasks on ledgers
• Liaising with customers regarding queries and overdue payments
• Supporting month-end procedures
• Assisting with annual financial audits
• Completing other ad hoc finance tasks as required
What we’re looking for
• Previous experience in a similar finance or administrative role
• Strong organisation and attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills and a helpful, professional manner
• Good IT skills
• Ability to manage deadlines in a busy environment
• Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and data protection
• Willingness to undertake First Aid and mandatory training
A current and valid ENHANCED DBS is required for this role
