Job Description:

Role: Teaching Assistant (Level 2) – Maths and English

Location:Bedford College – Cauldwell Street Campus – Brunel Road Campus - Kempston Plumbing Centre

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £24,720 and £29,870 per annum (Pro-Rata) DOE and Qualifications, People’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: Various hours – multiple full and part time vacancies available

Contract Type: Permanent – Term Time

About the role:

We are currently seeking a Teaching Assistant (Level 2) in Maths and English to join our Maths and English department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Teaching Assistant (Level 2), you play an important role in the success of our students through:

* Student Support - Provide educational, personal, and social support to students, including those with special educational needs, to help them access learning, develop independence, and participate fully in college life.
* Tutor & Curriculum Support - Assist tutors in planning and delivering lessons, preparing materials, maintaining classroom discipline, and supporting the implementation of EHCPs and support plans.
* English & Maths Focus - Support the delivery of English and maths across the curriculum, helping students engage with core subjects and reinforcing learning through targeted activities.
* Operational & Administrative Duties - Help with college visits, maintain accurate records of student progress, and contribute to the smooth running of the college by covering for absent staff and supporting general operations.
* Professional Conduct & Development - Work collaboratively within college policies, maintain confidentiality, attend training and meetings, and uphold safeguarding, equality, and health & safety standards.

About you:

* Essential Qualifications - Holds GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths, with a willingness to work towards Level 3 in both subjects.
* Educational Awareness - Understands the educational needs of children and young people, with the ability to plan and support learning activities effectively.
* Collaboration & Independence - Works well both independently and as part of a team, contributing positively to a supportive learning environment.
* IT & Practical Support - Confident using IT in classroom settings and able to meet the physical needs of students as required.
* Values & Flexibility - Demonstrates a commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, with a flexible and adaptable approach to supporting learners.
