Senior Java Developer
Chester - 2 days per week.
£70,000 - £90,000 + annual bonus and 30 days holiday + bh.
I'm hiring a Java Developer for one of my biggest clients in financial services. A bank but a tech-led organisation with a mission to build secure, scalable digital products that genuinely improve people’s lives. What You’ll Be Doing
As a Java Developer, you’ll play a key role in designing and building modern, cloud-native applications used at scale. You will:
* Design, develop, test, and deploy backend services
* Build and deploy containerised applications using Docker and Kubernetes
* Apply Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and Test-Driven Development (TDD) principles
* Work closely with Product Owners, Architects and Quality Engineers
* Integrate with internal systems and third-party APIs
* Contribute to architectural decisions and help shape engineering strategy
* Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of L&D
What You’ll Need
We’re looking for curious, adaptable engineers who enjoy building high-quality software with experience in:
Backend Development
* Hands-on experience with Java and building scalable RESTful APIs
* Experience with Spring Boot; exposure to Node.js is a plus
DevOps & Cloud
* Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Harness
* Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes
* Experience with cloud platforms — GCP preferred, but AWS or Azure also welcome
Quality, Testing & Automation
* Experience with automated testing tools such as Jest, Cypress, or Pact
* Commitment to writing maintainable, well-tested, production-ready code
