Overview
We are delighted to announce a full‑time Social Worker opportunity within the GMMH Andersen Ward Mother and Baby Unit (MBU) at Laureate House, Wythenshawe Hospital. The MBU is a 10‑bedded inpatient unit for women with acute perinatal mental health issues. The post will initially be based at Prestwich Hospital (Loweswater Ward) during refurbishment at Laureate House, for approximately 6‑9 months.
Responsibilities
* Deliver social work services to meet the needs of mothers and babies.
* Provide social care advice to staff and lead safeguarding for the MBU.
* Work closely with other agencies and individuals to support mothers, focusing on recovery, social inclusion, and social justice.
* Offer training, support, and mentorship to newly qualified social workers and health colleagues.
* Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team on the MBU.
* Report to and receive professional social work supervision from the Perinatal Lead Social Worker.
* Maintain flexibility and a positive attitude to change as the service develops.
Qualifications
* Confident, enthusiastic, and experienced social worker passionate about perinatal services.
* Experience working within perinatal mental health and/or children and family social services.
* Strong clinical leadership and commitment to the development of the MBU.
Benefits
Pay Enhancements – 30% additional for evenings (8 pm onward) and Saturdays; 60% additional for Sundays and bank holidays.
Annual leave – 27 days plus bank holidays, rising to 29 days after 5 years and 33 days after 10 years.
