SEN Teaching Assistant – Role Overview:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with autism, ADHD, or social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH)
Build strong, trusting relationships with students to support their emotional and academic development
Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to deliver personalised learning
Maintain a positive and calm classroom environment
Support students both in class and during structured break times
Some personal care responsibilities may be required depending on student needs
SEN Teaching Assistant – The Ideal Candidate:
Degree-level qualification or Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or SEND qualification
Experience working in SEN, care, youth work, or educational settings
Knowledge of autism, ADHD, or challenging behaviour support strategies
Calm, patient, and empathetic with a proactive mindset
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
