Job Title: Senior Software Engineer (Backend)
Salary: Regional: £70,929 - £86,691 GBP
Location(s): Bristol & Chester
Hours: Full time – 35 hours per week
Working Pattern: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in one of our office sites

What will you do?
As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll lead, direct, and shape approaches to solving technical challenges and translating business requirements into technical solutions. You will work collaboratively with product and engineering teams to create, support, and improve our software, ensuring good quality and engineering practices are followed.
What are we looking for?
We value individual skills, experience, and knowledge. To be considered, you should have hands-on experience with:
* Backend software engineering in Java and ideally an additional OOP language like Go or Python
* Developing RESTful API services & understanding of API Gateways (e.g., APIGEE)
* Building applications using container technologies like Docker
* Managing applications deployed to Kubernetes clusters, Istio & Helm
* Cloud platforms such as GCP, GKE, and IaC tools like Terraform
* Build tools & DevOps principles: Git, Maven, Jenkins CI/CD, Nexus, SonarQube
* SQL/NoSQL databases, basic Unix/Linux skills, TDD using JUnit
It would be a plus if you also have experience with Spring Boot, Hibernate, JavaScript, microservice architecture, event-driven systems, test automation, web technologies, data tooling, and infrastructure/networking.
