Salary: Grade F. SCP 17 £31,022 - SCP 22 £33,699

Hours Per Week: 36 hours

Base Location: Hyde Library, Hyde Town Hall, Corporation Street, Hyde, SK14 1AL & Hattersley Library, Hattersley Road East, Hyde, SK14 3EQ

The Role

A Library Manager is responsible for leading and supervising a team of Library Assistants working between a number of libraries to satisfy the needs of the customers at the initial point of contact, deliver a library service to a high standard, giving customers advice and guidance where required and supporting the needs of the cultural service within the organisation.

About You

You will be responsible for devising staff rotas ensuring sufficient staff cover at different libraries, preparing statistics on various aspects of library work and covering for other library managers when required. You will ideally have some supervisory experience, and an understanding of the Open+ self-service access system would be beneficial.

You will be proficient in dealing with the public, with good communication skills and an ability to interact well with customers of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. You will be able to converse at ease and provide information in accurate spoken English.

You will work closely with the Neighbourhood Librarians and other library delivery staff to ensure stock is current and of good quality, that courses and organised events run smoothly and class visits are supported.

You will be required to access information contained on the Council intranet/internet and complete service request forms on behalf of members of the public, including taking payments for council service by debit/credit card and cheque.
