Nursing Assistant

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Nursing Assistant to join our team on Ward 22 (Stroke Recovery Unit) at North Tyneside General Hospital.
Ward 22 specialises in the care of stroke patients and their rehabilitation journey, and care of the elderly.
The role works on a shift pattern: early, late, night, and long day shifts.

Main duties of the job
To assist the qualified nursing staff in delivering high‑quality nursing care and to support patients, carers and the multidisciplinary team.
To be responsible for own nursing care standards and assist in ensuring a clean, safe and hygienic ward environment.
Ensure fluid balances, food charts and assessments are completed.
Order and serve meals ensuring patients receive the correct nutritional needs.
Act as a role model to junior team members and help direct patient care to meet patients’ needs.
Job responsibilities
* Accurately record all patient observations, ECGs, perform bladder scans, blood sugar levels and accurate weight recording.
* Assist in ensuring a clean, safe and pleasant ward environment.
* Adhere to trust policies.
* Take personal responsibility for completing tasks within the role and undertake tasks under direction from ward team members.
* Share knowledge and skills with all new members of staff, including students.
* Take personal responsibilities for achieving agreed objectives through the appraisal process.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Level 3 qualification in a healthcare related subject or a portfolio of equivalent demonstrable experience.
* Completion of a competency‑based programme or equivalent relevant experience.
Experience
* Previous care experience in a health or social care setting.
* Evidence of completed competencies aligned to the service area.
* Customer care course.
