We are currently seeking a passionate and strategic Assistant Headteacher Culture and Wellbeing to join our senior leadership team. This is a unique opportunity to shape whole-school culture and lead on wellbeing for students and staff alike.
What Youll Do
As Assistant Headteacher, your responsibilities will include:
Strategic Leadership
Lead and implement a whole-school wellbeing strategy aligned with SEND needs.
Promote a restorative, inclusive school culture with student wellbeing at its core.
Coach and support teaching staff in effective practice and curriculum delivery.
Culture and Ethos
Champion trauma-informed practice through staff training and leadership.
Promote diversity, equity, and student voice across all aspects of school life.
Use data and feedback to measure the impact of wellbeing and culture initiatives.
Wellbeing and Pastoral Support
Lead systems to support pupil mental health, behaviour, and emotional regulation.
Design initiatives that promote staff wellbeing and resilience.
Work collaboratively with families, external agencies, and pastoral teams.
Leadership & Safeguarding
Line manage pastoral/therapeutic staff and support school improvement planning.
Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL).
Support the delivery of CPD related to trauma-informed practice and behaviour.
What Were Looking For
Essential:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Strong knowledge of SEMH, ASD, and ADHD
Experience leading wellbeing or cultural initiatives
Committed to trauma-informed, inclusive, and restorative practices
Desirable:
Experience in a leadership role in a specialist or inclusive setting
Experience working with families and multi-agency teams
DSL/DDSL training (or willingness to train)
Skills & Attributes:
High emotional intelligence and empathy
Ability to lead, inspire, and build trust
Excellent communication and strategic thinking
Passion for inclusion and safeguarding
