Social Worker – Disabilities and Mental Health Keeping in Touch (Review) Team, Grade 7
Location: Hybrid working and various locations in the city
Contract: 4 x Full time, permanent

£44,075 to £49,282 (Grade 7)
About the Team and Purpose
City of Wolverhampton Council is investing in its social work workforce across new service areas, including Disabilities and Mental Health. This is a new team within the Disabilities and Mental Health Service focused on keeping in touch (review) with people who have care and support in place.
Responsibilities
* Carry out conversations to keep in touch (review) with people who have care and support in place
* Use creativity to ensure people with disabilities and mental health needs are supported to live gloriously ordinary lives and are connected to their communities
* Ensure people’s voices are heard and represented in care and support plans
* Support young adults to navigate early adulthood with confidence
* Work with individuals at risk of involvement with the criminal justice system to build a good life based on care and support plans that promote safety and independence
Approach and Methodology
We use The Three Conversations, a strengths-based, person-centred approach that helps us think about: “What does a good life look like to you?” Services are tailored, empowering, and safe, promoting choice, dignity, wellbeing, and independence.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Be dedicated and passionate about working with people with disabilities and mental health needs and their carers/families
* Sound working knowledge of relevant legislation
* Strong analytical, assessment and negotiation skills
* Passion for strengths-based working
* Ability to work with colleagues, service providers, partners and commissioners
* Strong interpersonal, communication and IT skills
* Be registered with Social Work England
* Be an Approved Mental Health Professional/Best Interests Assessor or willing to undertake training
* Vision for own development
* Completed the ASYE or an equivalent post-qualifying pathway

Interview Process
The selection process will consist of:
* Written exercises (week of 23 February 2026)
* Formal panel interviews (week of 23 February 2026)
* Interviews may involve members of the Adult Voice and Choice co-production group
