Job Title: Free Church Chaplain at HMP Ashfield, Bristol
Serco is recruiting a Free Church Chaplain to join our team at HMP Ashfield in Bristol. The role involves delivering faith and non-faith-based courses, providing religious care, and engaging with the community to aid offender resettlement.
Responsibilities include:
1. Facilitating worship, study, and religious programmes.
2. Contributing to local policy, procedures, and practice development.
3. Providing mentoring and support to chaplains and volunteers.
4. Ensuring accessible chaplaincy care for all prisoners and staff.
Candidate requirements:
1. Subject to security and identity checks.
2. External candidates undergo a 12-month probation.
3. Must declare any membership in groups considered racist by the Prison Service.
Qualifications and accreditation:
Chaplains must be trained faith practitioners, accountable to and accredited by an eligible denomination listed on the Free Churches Group website. They should be ministers (lay or ordained) of a qualifying Free Church denomination, meeting specific theological and organizational criteria.
Additional requirements:
* Ordained ministers must have completed a formal professional formation process.
* Endorsements from denominational leaders are required before appointment.
