An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and innovative individual. The Community team works with individuals who have a learning disability, with additional complex and high risk needs.
The Community Team at BCHC is an MDT that work collaboratively to support adults in the community of Birmingham with learning disabilities, this encompasses a variety of complex and challenging behaviours which would give the ideal candidate a great opportunity to develop their skills and create a fantastic career pathway through the specialty. The successful candidate will work independently under the leadership of registered nurses, working within the sphere of nursing.
Main duties of the job
If you are considering a career outside of the hospital environment then you may opt for a Specialist Learning Disability Multi Disciplinary Community Team. This is a fast paced intensive service with significant demand, we need Nursing Associates who can think independently, make decisions and bridge our Support Workers and Registered Professionals. You will be working independently in people’s own homes and clinic settings delivering care planned and evaluated by our Registered Nurses. You need be confident in your own decision making and ready to make a difference in this new role. You will have a extensive experience within Learning Disabilities. Car Driver and access to a car for work purposes essential. Flexible working will be considered.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
We welcome your clinical skills, holistic thinking and ability to collaborate with the wider multi-professional team to shape care for our patients. We are looking for a Nursing Associate that has a breadth of knowledge across the fields of nursing, providing holistic and person centred care and support for people of all ages in a variety of settings. The successful candidate will work independently under the leadership of registered nurses, working within the sphere of nursing.

Qualifications
* Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register
* GCSE Grade A-C in Maths & English or skills level 2 Maths & English or equivalent
Experience
* Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Insight into how to evaluate own strengths and development needs, seeking advice where appropriate
* Experience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information
Skills/Knowledge
* • Undertake clinical tasks including Electro Cardio Gram and Venopuncture.
* • Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the nursing and interdisciplinary team and the organisation, and how the role may contribute to service development.
* • Understands and acts in line with NMC professional standards for practice contained within The Code.
* • Knowledge of when to seek advice and elevate to the appropriate professional for expert help and advice.
* • Understand requirements for NMC professional revalidation.
* • Understanding of the importance of following procedures and treatment plans.
* • Ability to organise and prioritise own delegated workload. • Ability to deal with non- routine and unpredictable nature of workload and individual patient contact.
* • Ability to communicate effectively (written, verbal and non verbal communication) with patients/relatives and carers and all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
* • Ability to develop effective and appropriate relationships with people, their families, carers and colleagues. .
* • Ability to support, supervise, assess and act as a role model to nursing associate students, other learners and health care support workers as required within the clinical setting

DBS Costs
Please be aware that all new employees starting work with the Trust will be charged for the cost of their DBS check if it is required for the role. The cost will be deducted from your salary in 3 payments over a 3‑month period once you start employment. By applying for this role, you are agreeing to these deductions being made. The charges for the DBS include the administration fee. The total costs are £26.40 for a standard check and £54.40 for an enhanced check. The level of check will be determined by the post you are applying for. For bank Workers the full cost of the DBS check (as detailed above) will be deducted from your pay following completion of your online mandatory training. No payment will be made for your online training until it is all complete and verified by the Temporary Staffing Team. Please note: You will not be able to work any bank shifts until you have completed your mandatory training, and your DBS is in place.
